Event app development is an interactive process that entails bringing together functionality, design and usability to create an app that helps you meet your business and event goals.
So after you’ve made your event app strategy, picked your event app developer and signed your contract, what happens next?
The first month of app development is important because this is when all your ideas will start to take shape. Generally, event app developers will begin the process by talking to you about features and design. These are the elements that your attendees will see and use, so this is the time to have your say over what their experience will be!
Look back at your strategy and work with your event app project manager to choose the features that will help you achieve your goals. Do you want your attendees to be interacting through the app? Make sure to include some sort of messaging component. Do you want a collection of photos from the event? A user contributed photo gallery will be your best bet here. Is privacy a concern? Look at doing a contact exchange feature that only works when attendee’s scan a QR code on their badge.
You’ll also want to talk extensively with your event app vendor about different integrations they’re able to make. For example, you may want to integrate your registration system into your app so that attendees can easily sign up for different sessions onsite.
Once all the features of the app are thought through and decided, you need to think about branding and design. Work with your vendor to get the look and feel of the app just right. At the end of the day, anything with your logo on it should represent your company in the best possible light.
App development is an iterative process, so you may go over features and design more than a few times during the first month. In order to perfect your event app, you’ll have to “rinse and repeat” until your app is complete, but it will definitely be worth it! Just check out some of these success stories.
